Hawke has a long history of being an important part the local community, by providing activities for young people for nearly 80 years. The group is large and successful, regionally and nationally, but more importantly the local youth get a great deal of enjoyment and experience from being part of Hawke. All levels of scouting are supported from 6 through to young adult and we have a good balance of boys and girls. Our focus is on developing leadership and confidence within the scouting framework using the sea as the place to learn and enjoy maritime skills. This is all achieved through the support of the community and a fully volunteer team of parents (who also have some fun).

All sections meet in the evenings during school term times and also may take part in weekend and overnight outdoor activities. There are occasions when all the group meet together either for fun water activities, family camps or on ceremonial occasions such as ANZAC day.
Hawke also instigates and coordinates community activities such as beach clean-ups, tree plantings and street collections on behalf of charities (e.g. Red Cross).
